I have to say I am extremely disappointed with Channel 10‘s coverage of the Commonwealth Games, after their coverage of the Rugby World Cup in 2007 I was hoping for a lot more. I find that most of 10′s coverage is smoke and mirrors with multiple replays of some events, while others are being almost completely ignored. There’s no schedule of what events are going to be televised and when, that I have been able to find and lot’s of tricks by the presenters about what is live and what is not. The best we get on timing is “coming up soon” and recently a timer graphic in the corner of the screen for some events. But as most Channels seem to use these graphics solely for self promotion of other programmes, I seem to have trained myself to ignore them. A proper schedule of events to be televised either on screen, on EPG, or online would improve things all around.
After their coverage of the Football World Cup this year, I believe all major sporting events should be covered by SBS. They showed every game live, using both SBS One and Two when games were played simultaneously. Then they repeated the games from SBS Two on One for those who did not have digital access, or wanted to watch the game that they had missed. There was a proper schedule of what was going to be shown and all fans knew where they stood.

Channel 10 really make no use of ONE apart from a High Definition broadcast. The same programmes are shown on both channels at the same time, so there is no chance of covering all of the 17 different sports that are included, or even the most popular ones.
Incidentally the ABC are doing a good job of covering all live events on the radio, but it’s not the same when you can not see the action. But if you want to know the truth of what is happening when it really happens I suggest you tune in your radio.
